Hi all, i am just back from Canada yesterday and found out that i have 2 repeat examinations coming up next week.
So my question is, how do i find out what i should be revising? tried ringing my year head but no luck in contacting him, and the other lecturer, well i cant find any contact details for him at all!
I am doing Auto tech and Management DT007. I have to repeat Management Studies 1 and Law Studies 1, if there is anyone in the same boat as me here any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What you were revising (or should have revised) for the original exam i'd say!

Sorry, that was a bit of a stupid question, i suppose i should have asked does anyone know if the repeat examinations are based roughly on the original exam?

I am in the same boat

No answer from lecturer and his website is down (it is an IT course in an IT college, notes should be online)

Luckily I have an idea of what will be coming up and i kept a copy of the summer exam and have some notes

But the OP has a good point, repeat exams are stressful enough
Contact from the college is minimal during the summer months and it can be very hard to find out whats going on (sending snail mail is no good for people who may be away during the summer, again its an IT college, a simple email along with the snail mail would be nice)

Yeah, finding it hard myself to get material for my repeat exams.

On a side note, a cousin in DIT is due to enter 2nd year of a business course, but she's got some repeats. There are rumours floating around, which I've heard myself, that repeats are usually easier than the Summer exam.

Can anyone confirm or deny for her (And me!) ?

just study past exam papers for repeat exams and you will be fine, some exams tend to be easier than summer alrite.

I was told that by a business lecturer

So, that's a big YES? As, they are easier?

I've repeated a few exams in my time, and from my experience they can sometimes be easier but not always.

I've had repeat papers which were exactly the same as the original but just with different numerical values. I've also had repeat papers which were more difficult than the original. Personally i think that the lectures mark the papers a bit easier, they are aware that your had difficulty the first time around, they dont want to fail anyone unless they have to.

I've even heard of a lecturer giving a student the repeat paper before an exam, it was one of the less important subjects on the course, but never the less, it made his repeat exam pretty easy.

Email your lecturer, some of them are back in the college at them moment getting sorted out for the year ahead, they may give you some tips or help ya out....

I'm not justifying the lecturers, but if you're repeating, 80% of the time it's because you didn't work?

    well 2 which i failed...

1st was law...ever try studying that? that stuff just doesnt want to into your head...all the snobby texture and words...

2nd was supervisory management...kunt wanted everything written out on the exam paper as he stated and not explaining it in your own words...hes the only lecture out of my course that wanted that...tick bastard...no one likes him anyway :)

but there should be just as much support for repeating exams as there is for the first ones...

people in other colleges (not all) get tutorials on what might come up for their repeats...

what even makes it harder is that they keep changing the structure of the course every year and theres no exam papers to revise on what you have studied
