    Hi all

If recommended amount of formula is 20 ounces per day. Do you measure the liquid before or after the formula is added to the bottle?

when 6 scoops of formula are added to 6 ounces of water, the bottle level goes up to 7 ounces. Is this the level I use for the recommended amount per day?

You measure the water then add the scoops.

The guidelines for amount per day is only a guideline babies can be very hungry and need more.

Edit: I see what you're asking now I'd count that as a six ounce bottle.

I asked the phn nurse as we were concerned my baby was drinking to much was drinking 30oz when she was only 2 weeks old. She said 6 oz of water equal 6oz bottle even though the formula brings it to 7oz.

I wouldn't worry about guidelines babies know how much they need and it varies from day to day.
