Jebus I hope the mine area they are in is large enough to have a crap in private and there is somewhere to "flush" to deposits away to.

    http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2010/08/23/129376011/expert-chilean-mine-not-unlike-being-in-a-prison
In the past, McAteer said, miners awaiting rescue have passed the time playing cards and doing crossword puzzles, but none have had to wait as long as the Chilean miners might have to.

"With modern technology, the interesting thing will be: do we put televisions down there, do we put videos down there to give them something to do."

He said the miners will have to be careful to reduce the inevitable tensions that arise from their confinement in close quarters and to keep up a good mental attitude.

"I have no doubt there will be counselors there to walk them through this," McAteer said. "It's not unlike being in a prison.

    The Mail version.
Easier to read, so easy it could have been written by Jeffrey Archer.

    See: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1305350/Chilean-miners-alive-trapped-rescue-months.html

When I read about this in the Times, the first though was my lord, what about toilet abilities! The smell after a while will be something bad.

...But at least they are alive.

I hate people making threads about miner issues.

Why not bring in some exciting equipment it may work faster then the old boring ones they have.

Fairly shocking tbh. Surely there has to be someone in the world who could get them our faster.

Just watched a documentary at the weekend about miners being rescued in Pennsylvania IIRC, although it took something like 4 or 5 days. Briliant work went into it.

You should offer them technical advice, being as you're obviously a mine of useful information.

'It will take time, but it doesn't matter how long it takes to have a happy ending.'

Quoted from the Chilean president himself :pac:

    God love them!

In this day and age surely we have the technology to get to them quicker than 4 months? Can the Americans not send their best equiptment? Sure Nasa have such advance technology?

The government made a statement that even with specialist outside equipment it'd take at least 2 months to get them out. I'm no drilling expert so not sure how true that is now

38" LCD plus XBox. Extra long power cord too. Problem solved. They'll be fine.

Poor ****ers will probably be fired and sent the bill for their removal once they get out too.

If it were politicians, top level bank staff, they'd be out in ten minutes.

That ten minutes is actually a deliberate disincentive against the temptation to abandon such people at the bottom of a mine.

they should make a reality tv show while down there. Evictions might get a bit messy though

we've had our own cave-ins and they did not end happily. Mining is still dangerous, lethal work.

2 months to get them out!. . . . it's going to bring new meaning to the words "sexual frustration".
