    Hi,

I am looking at ordering UPC Fibre Power Broadband 15Mb.

I want to set up a wireless network in the house/garden.

What do I need to do this?

Also how do I ensure it is secure?

    Thanks.

You get a free wireless router with the 15Mb package from UPC. It will have security enabled by default, so anyone attempting to connect to it will need a password.

There are a number of things you can do to make it "extra" secure, but it should come with WPA2 enabled by default and a long password of random characters, which is about as secure as any home network needs to be.

Your laptop will need a wireless card - either built-in or attached via USB or PCMCIA. Most laptops made in the last 5 years come with wireless networking built-in as standard.
