Marble-topped patio table

I have a marble-topped patio table that is exposed year-round. This means that the seal (lustre/sheen) has gone and now it has a horrible feel to it.
(Feels kinda like finger nails on a blackboard).

I was looking to see if I could just paint something clear over the surface to put the sheen back on it and to seal it from the weather.

Any suggestions on what to use?
I was thinking of simple coaiting it with a hard varnish.

    Thanks

Consider having it re-polished before u coat it: try the local monument maker or anyone who does granite /marble worktops

Have no thoughts on what to coat it with maybe ask the headstone folk
