    Hey,
    Peugot 307 5 door. 2004
When you flick the indicator on the headlights come on as well as the indicator.
Any idea what this could be?

Certainly an illumination situation. Let me see if I can shed some light on this.
It sounds like a fault in the indicator stalk. Controls both lights and indicators in your car i believe

    It's a Peugeot....

I've a very similar problem with a 206 and a bit of research on the internet relvealed that its a very common problem. Apparently the indicator/lights stalk will need to be replaced. The priceing I saw was £200 for the part plus installation. I added on a zero to that when I did my conversion to euro for Irish prices and decided I would live with the problem and not even bother going to a main dealer for a quote.

    Rest assured. You're not alone.

When I indicate my indicators come on and sometimes my dipped headlights will also come on.

It's one of those electrics problems that rightly give french cars a bad name.

Sure just drive around with your headlights on all the time. Should that not solve the problem? Or will they go off when you indicate?:)

do the headlights flash with the indicators or stay on constantly.....
    constantly on = switch
flashing at same time as indicator = bad earth

Sound like a good (accidental design) safety device to let people notice you sooner. Watch out here I come:eek:.
No seriously, If any other devices is not effected then, check the Earth cabling for all lights.

does it only happen when the car is moving - if it does, check the manual, it may actually be a safety device, I've a vague recollection of hearing about this somewhere.

Its either the com 2000 (indicator stalk) or there is a problem within the bsi.
On certain 307's the com 2000 unit do give trouble.

Here is a Link for reconditioned coms 2000... http://www.peugeotpartsforsale.com/store/

Andrew's question needs to be answered first, and his analysis is totally correct.

Same as my 206, '04. Indicate left, dipped lights come on. go over a bump, lights come on, hazards come on. Joke of a car.

I had a 307 and if I indicated right then turned the wheel back to the middle again with any bit of pace at all, the left indicator would come on.

Had to get the "comm" unit replaced, under warranty at the time> A while later the left indicator stopped working was told by Peugeot it was the comm unit again. A mechanic friend advised to give the steering column a few slaps and it sorted it out, the problem would re-surface every so often but a few slaps and she'd be right as rain again.

It seems that any issues around the indicator stalk are related to the comm unit and it's not a cheap fix, close on €400 at a dealer from what I remember.

The second hand re-conditioned is an option but you need to be very careful that it's from the same spec car as if it's not it'll never be right.

    Good luck
