Im going into my third year of college, and like many people in this country, havent been able to find work. i really needed work for the summer, and was told i could not receive dole as im still in college.

Now iv heard that if you have enough tax credits, you can receive job seekers allowance for the time your out of college, at a reduced rate of E88.

Does anyone know if this is true?

You cannot claim jobsekers allowance if enrolled in third level as you are considered not to be available and looking for work.

I cant see there being a problem claiming jobseekers benefit if you are still entitled to it.

Best thing to do is go to your local social welfare office and ask.

There is a back to education allowance where as far as I know you basically get paid the €196 weekly during college. You would have had to apply for it before getting your course though I would imagine.

check www.welfare.ie and all the info should be on there.

Yeah thats not relevant because the OP is already an enrolled/registered stduent

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

My understanding was from May to Septembver you can sign on and get jobseekers. As these months you are available for work.
I just completed an access course this year. I received jobseekers from the start of June to Spet 7th .
