I'm looking to get something to get around in till I fix my Puma. Needs to have NCT and Tax as I don't wanna pay any more than 300quid for it.

Do you think I could get anything good for this price? Just need it for about a month and then I can get rid of it...

    Maybe something like this:

    Just wouldn't want another pup/lemon...

Just need it to run for a month...
then I can sell it off or something...

I don't have more than 300eur to spend on it (as I've got to buy the parts for my car) so I don't want something I need to pay the tax for or wait hoping its capable of passing the NCT.

Just want to know if this is a good idea or I should hold off the idea and just get my sis to drop me around or something...

I considered this myself recently. There does seem to be a lot of cars out there at the minute with tax and NCT for around the €500 mark. Id say youd find something so long as your expectations are rock bottom, but Id imagine youll end up sorting thru a lot of rubbish to find anything half ways decent.

i'd say u will be better off saving the money and getting ur own car fixed quicker

Buy a one liter car with no tax or nct. Tax is 40 ish euro and book an nct for a few weeks time if youre stopped produce the waiting letter and even if you fail you get a few weeks grace to get it fixed. Then when you sell it after a month it still has two months tax making it.easier to shift

That doesn't sound too bad an idea if I could get one for 300quid...

I've got enough on me fixing my Puma. I really wouldn't wanna be fixing another car. And you don't know what could be wrong with it. What if it's got a leaking gasket or something, then its a total waste of money...

A 20 month old nct on a 300e car is no assurance that its got a decent head gasket..

Buy one thats running fine but wont pass on emissions or something, and i didnt mean you should fix it for the nct just book it and send it in regardless. Then you are legally covered and have an easier time buying

how is he legally covered just cos he booked the test, if a guard wanted to be a pr1ck they could easily take the car off the op

Actually I found a 10 day car hire place for 145eur.
    Doesn't sound too bad...

Though still I was thinking if I buy a car, I could get some money back when I sell it...

most car hires are limited mileage aswell

I won't be doing much mileage. Just go to shops/garages to get any parts for the car and stuff.

Its summer so I don't really have much to travel.

You should really get that car for nothing (at the most). I have been offered better cars than that for nothing in the past.

Its what I'm hoping to find. Something I could get for 200-300eur (maybe even lower if I haggle) that can be used as a temporary cheap run around. And once my car is fixed, it could sell it for like 100eur or something like that. So I get some money back...

Argh.. stupid rental place with their rules... You need to have 2yrs full license and be over 25yrs and crap like that.
Rules out getting a rental car...

Theres plenty of cars (with NCT &Tax) up on donedeal and the likes for 250 or less. Try and get one that you can get looked over by a mechanic first (although, if you only need it for the month, this may be less important than in other cases)

There was a carina II for €200 yesterday, sold within hours of it being mentioned in the bangernomics thread :D
