Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gas oil Boiler Soot

Looking to get new boiler put in but I have plenty of gas oil and need to use all this first as new boiler will run off kero. Things are tight so I can't go dumping it.

I cleaned out the boiler really well recently but since I started putting it back on for an hour some nights I've noticed some (not loads though) soot. It's filthy stuff, little black specks. To be honest, besides efficiency (I don't think I will get payback of new boiler as I plan to sell the house), it's the soot that is driving me to replace the boiler.

Any ideas on what I should do to reduce soot. As I say I have cleaned the bloody thing out really well. Should I have the nozzle replaced?

I imagine the flue itself is absolutely rotten, and I want it out (thinking will put in a proper balanced flue on new one). Just want to tide it over for a few months until gasoil is used up.

Get it serviced, it isn't burning correctly.

if its a plastic tank, some oil companies will suck out the diesel and refill with kero, u will then need to get the burner reset then, new jet, etc.
