We have a Graco, think it's the mirage, travel system. It's cheaper than most, fairly compact and has the car seat included in price so that fits directly into buggy. My brother got a McLaren for his young one, which again is cheap and compact but don't think it's suitable for newborn. I'm open to correction on that one

We have the Graco Mosaic and have found it excellent. It's a buggy/car seat combo and came with a changing bag and rain cover for €199. There's a car seat base for an additional 50 (well worth the extra expense). I would say you could probably negotiate at least 50 quid off that price as it's an older model now and I'm pretty sure I've seen it cheaper on the web - these days most shops will match a lower price you've seen elsewhere.

We picked this one because it was the lightest buggy of it's quality that we could find (I had back problems in pregnancy and wouldn't have been able to manage something heavy for quite a while after the birth). The buggy part is only 9kgs, is a cinch to fold up once you get the knack and can be folded and lifted into the boot with one hand. It's very compact, great for when you're out shopping, and fits in the boot of a Nissan Micra. It's also very solid and very hard-wearing. We've had ours over a year now and it has had heavy duty usage but there's not a thing wrong with it.

We saw prettier ones that I would have liked, but I have no regrets about buying the Graco. I'd say junior will be in it for a long time to come.
