Firstly, mod's if this thread is anywhere else, i apologize and feel free to remove.
Ladies, I have a dilemma... Im a college student and this year I get to do six months work experience, during this time I will be wearing suits/work clothes but I never wear shoes (I'm a trainers and jeans kind of gal :)) so Im looking for advice on what sort of shoes would be comfortable and suitable for the workplace? As well any recommendations on brands or stores I could try would be fantastic!

    Thanks in advance!

m&s do shoes which have extra cushioning under your feet, as so next.

I find that the slightly frumpier shoes are the comfiest. Me, I'm happy to comprimise!

clarks clarks clarks! I'm turning into an auld one, but clarks have lots of lovely shoes, perhaps a bit more expensive than the regular high street but worth it in terms of comfort. I have three pairs of clarks, one heels, two flats - all look great and my feet aren't aching at the end of the day.

At the risk of sounding like an even aulder one... Ecco ftw! Ok, they're never going to win any style awards and they are pricey, but they are the comfiest shoes out there and they last ages. Some of them aren't too hideous and trust me, your legs and feet will thank you for it if you're going to be standing a lot.

Ecco are great I have to say. Usually pick up a pair or 2 every year in the sales. Usually around the €30-40 mark then. For ultimate comfort (and ultimate unfashionableness) I have to say crocs are the best. I never wear mine in public though. Noticed a lot of doctors and nurses wearing them when I was in hospital with my son

Funny I had a pair of Crocs and had to dump them. I found they offered no support or cushioning. I bought them for walking round the parks in Orlando and had to buy a pair of trainers after a couple of days as my legs were killing me! I know a lot of people rave about them, but I like the 'shock absorber' effect of Ecco or something similar.

Thanks for all the replies! I went into the city (Dublin) today, armed with all this info, trainers on my feet for all the walking and a list of loads of shops/brands to go for....M&S won the battle!!!! I got a wonderful pair of ankle boots (which look like shoes under trousers) and they are the most comfortable footwear with heels I've ever worn... im still wearing them now and its 2am :D
