    We have the best sea bass fishery in Europe, this is due to the protection laws for sea bass and the ban of the commercial expliotation of bass.
    Polictians are considering allowing the commerical fishing of bass again. They are being pressurised by the commerical fishermen who see the opertunity to make a killing for a couple of years. There's not much other fish left to catch in inshore waters. The last time this happened the stocks were virtually wiped out in 2 years. Any change in the law that allows the sale of wild bass in ireland will wipe out our bass once more.
    Irish Bass is a non-profit organisation created for the preservation of BASS.
    Their aim is to safeguard the future of Irish sea bass, the anglers who respect them and the many livelihoods those anglers support.

    The government just does not understand that bass take so long to grow, and that if they commercially fish them they will be decimated as they cant restock themselves....

    i fish this cove, i have never met anyone else fish it in years http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqgItQVSqYw and to be honest i alone have kept the fish stocks in that area low well other than my lady .... one man and his rod... can do a lot of damage.. i only take one fish a day, but when the average catch for a couple of hours, goes from 5 down to 2 well you know something is up.....
