With all these St Marks flies around the place at the minute a single trip Cork to Dublin makes the windscreen a massacre site. They are tricky things to remove, anyone got any recommended products that will shift them wiithout damaging painteork (front bumper now a mix of black paint & yellow & white fly guts.
When I was driving along today it was like rain hitting the windscreen only instead of water droplets it was flies hitting the windscreen!

After two dublin to cork trips in 4 days the front of my car is like roadkill - it is insane how much dead insect remains is on it

For the paintwork I would use either Holts Tar remover or Meguiars bug and tar remover.

For the windscreen, an active glass cleaner is very good. It comes in a green aerosol can and is the same size as a can of Turtle Wax's Black in a Flash. It's a German brand which I can't remember the name of.

The reason for using an active foam on the glass is because the foam fizzes up on contact and does all the hard work leaving you to just gently wipe the glass.

I tried WD40 the other day. No joy. It had some effect, but was in no way a solution. Ended up getting some Tar and Bug remover down the shops then. No idea what it was, but im assuming it was some turtle wax product. Did the right job, but from the smell of the cloth afterwards, it was mostly methylated spirits, and some other stuff. Gave the car a good wash, and then a wax afterwards.

Just drove from Galway to Dungarvan and back.... all my efforts in vain.

Dunno how effective turtle wax b&t remover is on bugs but I know for a fact it's absolutely rubbish on tar! You might aswell use fresh cream!

Ive no idea what I used really. I was down at the local centra, not exactly car accessories central, so I just assumed it was TW.

"gunk" is the best bug remover I have used, carplan tar remover is the best tar remover, by a mile!

It was way worse during early summer, one drive to Dub one day and my wing mirrors had a layer of dead bugs attached to them windscreen covered in little white dots. Bumper covered in red and white/yellow!

I have, didnt like the kind of gel it left on the car, very hard to get off, if you haavent used carplan you really should give it a go, €5 a can, its just great stuff, takes off tar no problem at all, spray on, leave for a min or 2 and just wipe off, no scrubbing!

Drove Dublin to Waterford yesterday and my car was a state. Couldn't believe it. It was like something out of a horror movie when I pulled into a garage half way. All over the windscreen and the front of the car covered in what seemed to be flying ants. Yellow slime covering my windscreen and front of car and in my wisdom I tried to use the windscreen washer and wipers to get them off on the way and it made it even worse because it squished them. Can't wait to clean them off tomorrow. I'll try one of these suggestions here that seem to be successful.

I have used a few as I drive Cork/Dublin a bit and hate the mess the insects make :p

Holts is the best IMO, but does need a wash afterwards.
It's FAR better than any Autoglym, turtle was or any similar ones I have tried.

Simoniz Glass Cleaner is very good at removing insect deposits etc. from paintwork. It's for cleaning glass obviously, but is for this as well. I was very impressed with how good it was! :)

The Turtle wax stuff is alright What I do is spary it on the Windscreen and bumper before I wash the car and then blast it with the powerwasher does the trick

For the windscreen I use Cilit Bang or any similar house hold cleaner and a nylon kitchen scrubing pad, perfect results.
