Plugging an external hard drive to Iomega Screenplay Pro HD

I should start with saying i didnt read this forum before purchasing the Screenplay Pro HD... but i havent had any major problems with it and i just filled the 1Tb drive this week.
In anticipation of this i bought an 1.5 Tb External HD for extra storage and back up a dane-elec on special offer from Reads (1.5TB Dane-Elec So Ready, Quiet Ext 3.5" HDD, USB2, 7200 rpm, 16MB Cache, 8.9 ms, Black (Samsung In)
    ).
I was hoping to daisy chain it off the Screenplay but when i plug it into the back of it, it shows the Disk Letter but none of the files within.

Is it a problem with the Screenplay or the external Drive?

Ive had a fair old search for an answer but obviously havent found a remedy... my only assumption is that its the External drive as it is being recognised, i dont have another computer to check if its set up that way though. Im at loss.
It doesnt quite render the Screenplay usless but is an annoying task if i wish to view new files without doing a lot of swapping around or deleting.

I have been plugging in a USB key to the front of my ScreenPlay Pro
Not sure if it the HD version...

But maybe check that they are both formatted the same, just in case.
Unfortunately mine is packed away - mid move - so I cannot check the ports on the back of mine - but if yours has a front port maybe try that too.

This has worked for me before. I have only a 60GB external drive and I plug it in the front of the Screenplay Pro HD and it sees the files etc and i can do some swapping around of files. However I have never tried to play anything from the external drive but I will try later and post results
