    Can anyone tell me if the CAO results will be posted in any national newspaper tomorrow or is that a thing of the past? Cheers!

    Ooh I forgot about Aertel! Do you happen to know what time they appear on Aertel from?

    Probably not that early, but they'd definitely be up by 8am I'd say. I could be wrong though. Aertel would be *far* too frustrating to get the points on though.... Waiting for the beeping page to change wouldn't be good in a nervous state- the remote could end up going through the TV screen!

    I hate to repeat myself, but ...
    I wouldn't trust *any* list that isn't either on the CAO website or a scan of the list in the papers.

    I will say this ... any user posting points as confirmed who is later shown to be talking through their ass can look forward to a permaban from this forum and, if I have my way, from this site.

    Ah I see! You can use Aertel from the RTE Website - it instantly goes onto the page you type in!

    I remember checking the times for the cinema on Aertel when I was younger.
    Me: Page 146 please
    Aertel: 147... 148... 149... 150... 151.... 152... 100... 101... 102
    Me: *Oh never mind*

    Can't see the rush for newspapers/points info when you see if you got your offer or not at 6am on the CAO website.

    Was it not the same last year? I.e. you get your offer through the cao at 6 am?

    Not sure what was going on last year, just can't understand why people are hoping to get newspapers early in the morning when they can find out at 6am on CAO.ie

    Irish independent usually covers the points in depth in a supplement.

    Because you can find if you got your course or not? Eases/terrifies peoples nerves and whatnot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,900 ✭✭✭Eire-Dearg

    I don't know, bit mad if you ask me... I'll be popping onto CAO.ie in the morning to see what the story is and if I got in to something or not. Simples.

    I think it's natural to want to know as soon as possible.

    Last year, my daughter knew very quickly when the front page of the Irish Times appeared online - she was one of those applying for UCD Science, and the rise in points for that was the lead story. She was okay though..but it meant we knew she'd got her place long before midnight.

    But I found other's stories really exciting - when someone got their hands on Monday's newspaper the site was buzzing - heartbreaking to hear how some missed out by 5 points, wonderful to hear others discover that they had enough to do Medicine.

    It's a horrible system - but boy, does it make for interesting viewing on here.

    But not getting your chosen course is certainly NOT the end of the world, as many have wisely said. Another daughter got her first choice - two years later, she's ditched that, and changed direction.

    Best of luck to everyone, but remember 'It'll be allright in the end, and if it's not allright, it's not the end!'

    The nerve-wracking thing is that some people DO know already, its like your birthday present in a locked room, you know its there, certain people know exactly what it is, but you have to wait.

    Teletext have it up from 6am onwards guys! Also those who have contacts in third level / The Irish Times know already... I absolutely echo what randylonghorn has said about not trusting people etc, but I do know that Zam's information is accurate and that law and politics in Trinity is 560 random selection and pure law is 515 random selection. I only found out law and medicine from a 100% reliable source, sorry I cannot be of more help and I completely understand that people may be skeptical Reading this. Best if luck to everyone tomorrow anyway!

    If you are to believe the Irish Times tomorrow's CAO figures are expected to see:

    * A marginal increase for most science/engineering courses;
    * An increase in medicine and related courses;
    * No major change from last year for business courses;
    * A drop in points for property/construction courses and less demand for two related areas – law and architecture;
    * An increase in points for nursing;
    * No major change in points for teaching.

    and also a modest increase in Arts courses.

    Both ePapers (Indo + Times) are still on the 21st for me. How annoying.

    I rang one of the 24 hour shops in Dundalk and they said that they expect the papers in around 4am - later than usual according to them! I might pop down and buy one there, depending on how things are on here tonight!

    Best I've seen

    Lads, a camera phone would be unlikely to pick up enough detail, unless maybe an iPhone or other relatively new one.

    ** No guarantees ** ... but I have been given independent reason to believe that zam may be legit, that's all I can tell ye.
