I have a 2005 new model diesel passat and the rear brake pads will soon need replacing.I am wondering if it will need to be brought to someone with diagnostic equipment or can I do the job myself as I have done before on previous passats that I have owned.(pre new model).

Ps-I have water entering the car in the driver side footwell.Anyone have this experience with one and what the fix?

Advice is coming from the older passat shape, mark 5? From 1998 to 200something, so I could be off. Somewhere to start anyway.

Pollen filter out of place? It could be not fitted correctly. Very easy to do and fix.

Roof drains clogged? Some vigorous nipple massaging is needed here. Seriously.

So yours is the mark 6?
    Without a sunroof?
Water leaking through ECU housing? 2008 recall for that problem. EDIT: Further google shows that may have been for the B5 and 5.5's.

    Not much on it really.

Considering all the problems they had with the Mark 4 Golfs and Mark 5 Passats your problem could be one hell of a needle in a hay stack to find. Hope not though.

I had to redo the door seals on my Mark 4.

You need diagnostic tool to set electronic handbrake to service position. Many people have this equipment now though
