Looking for a good mechanic in the Louth / Meath area that specializes working with classic mercedes engines & charges reasonable rates. I've a 1977 350 sl that is misfiring on start up.

I wouldn't bring my SL to anyone except Ned Kelly near castlecomber. I drive up from cork and spend the day wishing i could buy everything in his yard, he has R107 and R129 SL's. He had the transmission oil filter for my 96 500SL in stock. He's a genuinely decent man who loves his Mercs.

By the way be prepared to sell your house, kids, dog, soul etc when you see his yard, 6.9L, SL, SLC, CL, E class etc. If the tax situation in this country was different I wouldn't have anything less than a V8

I hear you Tommy. I;ll pay his yard a visit soon. Im also looking for a front passenger wing. He'll prob be able to point me in the right direction.

You should examine all of those little rubber vacuum pipes around the engine bay. they can cause a lot of issues on the 350's.

PM me if you need any other help.

Give yourself plenty of tine to oogle. I'd be very surprised if he couldn't source a wing for you.

    Hi Gdev77,
You seem to have the same cars as I do, I also have a '75 911 and a '71 sl 350 (107). The SL is ultra reliable, starts first turn after lying a month. The 911 leaks a little oil, as I see yours does, and 95% of them:(.Do you have any more, would be a big coincidence if you had a Mk1 sierra:D.

If you are going to that guy about Merc parts, could you ask him if he has a bootlid for the SL?
