    hi guys

i have an idea but it needs researching and development and then afterwards patenting, mass producing, sale outlets but supplying the suppliers rather than individual shops/individuals.

it would be in the hygiene area/department

so any info on how to develop and launch this product would be greatly appreciated

Have you contacted any companies to see if they would be interested in selling your product?

Equally, have you contacted any end users and asked if they'd be interested in buying your product?

no i havn't contacted anyone yet
    i don't know where to start:confused:

also would contacting any of them companies be dangerous as they would have the resources for developing this product themselves??

Could be. Judge the risk for yourself.

But if you have not ascertained at least the requirements of end-users, and if you do not have any technology base yourself, you are not going to get anywhere at all.

I'd agree with the previous posters, the only way you will move your idea forward is to start speaking to people in the industry. There are risks but if you don't speak to people your idea will remain as an idea and never get developed.

You don't necessarily need to speak to people who could potentially be competitors, even speaking to some local shops who sell similar products will give you an insight into customer requirements and what is already on the market.

You could also ask the people you discuss the idea with to sign an NDA.

I personally, would be very careful about who I talk to, especially in the industry as you hoping to patent this product.

It might be worth having a chat with your local enterprise board and applying for something like innovation voucher or a business mentor.
