    Hi Folks ,

I already posted this in the swimming forum but due to lack of responses thought I'd try here. With the tri season coming to an end my mind has turned to winter training & I'm looking for masters swim session - preferably in the mornings.

Castleknock/Blanchardstown or Dundrum/Sandyford areas (work & home) would suit or I suppose anywhere en route?

I've looked into the NAC masters & they swim in the evenings so no good for me - anyone know of anywhere else in these areas?

    Thanks a million!

Glenalbyn too far out of the way (beside stillorgan shopping centre)? I haven't been to the morning swims, but been thinking of going along to see what the setup is.

Seconding Glenalbyn masters. You don't have to join, just pay 6E at the door. You have to pay that even if your a member (I believe). You can buy a block of 10 swims cheaper anyway.

6 lanes, 33m pool, about 5-8 people per lane, covering 3-3.5k per session, coach writes set up on the whiteboards.

7.15 - 8.30 pretty much every day, Thursdays are distance sets, Sundays are technique. Thankfully they don't do that much fly!

Hey rosscollins88, you're much more in the know on this than I am: what's the mix of swimming normally? my freestyle is OK but breast stroke and backstroke are pretty messy (I've no idea what I do my 100s in for them ;)). Fly is non-existent. It's been putting me off just showing up to a masters swim for a long time... should it?

I've only been to about a dozen of their sessions and pretty much the entire session is freestyle. Eg. you might be doing 5x4 lengths (3 lengths fs, 1 length backstroke).

Sometimes there's the odd bit of IM. I couldn't manage the fly so just did breaststroke, others do the same.

You could just do an easy length of freestyle if your back/breaststroke isn't up to pace yet. It won't take long til your flying with your other strokes though.

    Thanks Guys,

I might give that go - freestyle is really what I'm looking for too as really bad at the others! Will give a few sessions a go & see how I get on...
