Note: MODS feel free to edit/move if in wrong forum etc....

So... To any of you that have seen the Dexter tv show and read the book(s), which did you think was better? personally I couldn't believe the difference in plots between the two! I know films/tv shows based on books normally take liberties (usually just shortening/ leaving out scenes) but I thought dexter brought it to a whole new level!:)

You mean taking liberties as in coming up with original season plots? Personally, I thought the TV series vastly improved upon the series of books.

I'd have to vote for the TV series (and I read the first book before I seen the first TV season). The first book was very good, but I liked the way the TV season fleshed out the story more, and the TV season had the more logical ending imo. Ever since the first book, Dexter has become dumber and dumber in the books, but in the TV series he has maintained his dark side.

    Absolutely no competition IMO.

    TV series >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Books.

The first two books were pretty much on a par with the TV series but since then the books have taken many turns for the worse!

    While i love the show.

I think the books often divulge into aspects and plots the series on TV isn't able to which is why i enjoy them both.

Past two seasons of TV have been TOP notch however.

The books are just easy reads and quite enjoyable in a trashy way but the tv show is beyond brilliant.

Have to agree with zimovain, I only read the first one, but I couldn't believe how quickly I got through it. It almost seemed like bad value for money, the speed I got through it.

Storywise it was good, but things like depth of character, can't be compared with the Series.

In 90% of cases the book is better than the film/series, but this is one of the exceptions.
