Hi folks, I'm a bit late to the party on what should be posted where with regard to music, but I just wanted to say.

There are generally two reasons I can see for people posting up tracks.

    1. This is my track, isn't it great?

    2. This is my track, help me make it better.

I'm not that sure that option 1 should even be in the Production forum and probably belongs in the "pimp your band". Reason being that it's a completed work. You could certainly link to it from here and discuss it there.

The only reason I could see option 1 being ok would be if you had an A and B version up and wanted to discuss the production processes used on each.

Option 2 is probably not of interest to ALL the pros as they rarely feel the need to ask for guidance, unless stepping outside their own area of expertise.

Option 2 works for the amateurs on here, who are probably in the majority.

On the asking for help through PM. I think that's a bad idea, unless the asker needs the information to remain private.

If I ask Joe Bloggs a technical question in an open forum, others can gain from the answer without needing to ask it themselves. So ten people benefit from one question.

Lots of the stuff I have learned on here has come from questions asked by others and not directly by me.

If I PM Joe Bloggs the same question and then 10 others do, Joe Bloggs is going to get pixxed off.

    Rock.
