Hello all, just looking for a bit of advice, i got a new (to me) car, a bmw 320d se with 160000miles. it is the 136 bhp model so i don't think it suffers as bad from turbo failure as the next 150bhp model. it came with a full service history from 2 previous owners. i notice the water pump has never been changed and there is no record of a coolant change, it is running well and i'm just wondering if it is worth doing these things or just leave well enough alone? any thing else to look out for on this car?

i could be wrong but i think the water pump would be a common enough failure from around 100,000 miles mark so it may be worth changing. id even consider a full replacement of fluid if your able to do it yourself. coolent, brake fluid etc even down to gear box and rear diff. these are life time fluids but they've gone well past that if not changed. also there is a turbo breather filter to replace at each service, this is where the 150bhp model can blow the turbo and the 136bhp can blow too just not as often.

Has it had new cat & exhaust manifold? At that mileage Id be pretty sure it has but if not, start budgeting for them. They are hard on the pocket at that kind of mileage

no record of this being done either, it was a instinctive buy, it was cheap and running well, am looking to get the maintenance that may kill it done now to keep it for two or three years at least
