CSS Lower Than SSS?

I played the Volvo Amateur event at Castleknock last Wed. Checked my away records on golfnet and the SSS was 72, but the CSS was 71.

My understanding was that the CSS related to how the course was playing on the day of the event, but on Wed we had 25mph winds, rain and the greens were crap because they'd been hollow cored. So how does it play easier than the standard scratch?

Can someone set me straight please?

CSS would be based on the scores returned for the event you played in.

What did you score though? What did the people around you score? If everyone scored well despite the conditions, it will obviously be lower.

Ok, I get it, thanks for the replies lads. I'd just figured the CSS would be set pre-tourny but I see why it's not. Thanks again.
