    OK spotted this story:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-11048758

Am I the only one that looks at the picture and instantly thinks - "he did it" ???

He's taking posed holiday snaps of him with his bird when she is on a ventiator FFS.

    Lame!

I must admit, I saw that picture during the week and thought - why would he take a photo like that? It's hardly going to be the cover picture of their honeymoon album. Strange stuff indeed.

Hmmm... part of the appeal for funds I'd say.

I agree, it most likely part of his appeal and to try bring her home and help her.
Maybe " strange " if viewed out of context such as this thread, otherwise makes sense.

    Strange thread..

Woman breaks her back in three places during her honeymoon and husband does a public fund appeal to get her home. I don't think the photo was high on his list of priorities.

I don't see any birds in the photo

Wonder why he thought that would be a good picture though

Well I was drunk so this thread was not so strange as the ones I screened out. The Ode to Saturday night poem I was going to post celebrating alcoholism in all its glory I'm glad I cut. The last line was going to be - "F**k yis all, you're all just here so I'm not drinking alone."

    But I digress...

But come on it is a weird photo. Its just plain morally wrong. She's clearly unconscious. Would you like photos of you unconscious in hospital put on the net/news ? Who consented to this ? I'd be pissed off if I woke up and found that all over the press/net.

I don't think the nurses/doctors would allow it either. It looks like he had a shifty look around jumped on the bed and snapped a photo.

Some guys get off on that sort of thing, I'd say.

I get your point and actually agree.. Out of interest though, would he have power of attorney since she's unconscious?

I possibly may have made my point more clearly in the OP had I been sober!

Don't know about power of attorney - I guess it would depend on local rules where they are.

It just struck me as a very off picture. An invasion of privacy.

Forgive me. I was drunk. There was a yellow tweety bird in the picture when I looked at it.

Ahh Sober now. The photo was printed in a newspaper for a good reason, you might want to criticise the amateur fashion of the photo but you shouldn't critcise the reasoning behind it. After a disaster overseas you reguarly see footage on the news of the injured lying in hospital.

We reguarly see pictures of people in hospital beds, They are very common. They can be unconcious and concious and family members reguarly take pictures.

all of that may be so. Its still an invasion of privacy. You do sometimes see pictures of people in hospital beds - but they are usually awake and I've never seen one in the paper before with breathing masks etc on whilst unconscious

Looks like taking the photos of her on the ventilator has paid off, they have raised over £20,000 already.

I know that, but why does he need to be in the photo? He's clearly stretched out his arm and snapped the two of them together. It's his business but I just thought there was no need for him to be in the picture.

Nonsense..watch the news. I have seen dozens of footages of News camera panning through a crowded hospital after a war or a natural disaster. They definetly did not consent to being filmed. Your point is mute.

People react and sympathise with peoples plight and it's important people learn about a tragedy so they can help. If we did not learn about pakistan through teh news then we wouldn't have known to donate.

Perhaps.. who knows. At least there wasn't any red eye.

the photo was probably taken for appeal reasons, so he could show that he was with the wife, and that she was in hospital
