My qin ai de and I very much want our future kids to be fluent in both Mandarin and English. Obviously they will learn English reading and writing here through school. They will learn Mandarin spoken at home (she will speak exclusively in Mandarin to them and I plan on getting Chinese TV installed here too).

I have read that Chinese communities in America and Canada have set up Sunday schools for second generation Chinese kids to learn how to read Chinese. Is there anything similar here?

You can try the Chinese church off Liffey St (Lotts St), they have a Chinese school, but not sure if they teach Mandarin.

Rather than get chinese TV installed why not just get DVDs of the popular TV shows (fireman sam, Dora etc) you can play them in chinese for your kids. We are doing this with our daughter. There is also chao hou (spelling?) some tiger that has his own show and another where he helps teach pronounciations and pinyin
