    Have always liked those 2cvs , have read a lot of stories regarding them. See a few of them up for sale at moment and am slightly tempted. What are the best of these and what should one look out for when buying...;)

    Well, the best ones, quality wise, are the 1970s models, but they're very difficult to come by in RHD. From let's say 1981 onwards, Citroen used inferior metals which resulted in chassis rotting away. This doesn't have to be a problem if you're thinking of restoring one. A brand new chassis costs €495 :p

    As regards parts availability, EVERY single part is available new. You just have to know where to look.

    Look out for:
    - rotten chassis
    - bent chassis (check for heavy steering)
    - king pins
    - floor and sills

    Quick price guide:
    - new chassis €495
    - new roof €100 - €150 depending on colour
    - set of tyres €190 including shipping from france
    - set of bumpers €50 -€60
    - headlights €60 each
    - new cylinders + pistons + piston rings €150
    - ......

    Any more questions, just let me know :-)

    Thanks, cv ! gives me a bit to go on. Ive seen a few advertised at the moment , would prefer to buy a reasonably driveable one as I would be paying someone to restore and from experience it can prove very expensive.;
    ) If you know of anything available in the Munster area , keep me posted.;)
