okay okay so yep yep this is perhaps a long shot but does any kind soul out there know of a place where a sound/video artist might be able to live and work?
basically i live in a housing estate at the moment and volume is a BIG issue, which is crap for recording sound and editing etc (i like to work at night mostly)

i have been looking through DAFT.ie for places and no luck.

aesthetics are not important, just somewhere to lay my head, have a friend over for an occasional drink and WORK on my art. so any suggestions where one could find such a place in our lovely little city?

    here's hoping!

    mitty.

Could you put a shed in the garden and insulate and soundproof it? Obviously not if you are renting, but if you are at home it might work.

that is an idea i have thought about but to be honest i just need to move out, change being the food of creativity and all. but cheers for the idea....

i am thinking of places like berlin and montreal, barcelona, brooklyn, etc -where artist have there living/ working spaces for kinda cheap.
it seems like there ain't much option but to rent living quarters here and then rent seperate your work space, no wonder so many people leave this place... a big problem (perhaps for a different thread) is people moving to already established scenes and in affect leaching upon the efforts of 'natives' of that scene and leaving their home scene bone-dry, so yeah it might be easier to move to these places but f*ck it i believe in staying...

    anyone any ideas on locations!?

    cheers everyone

    t.
