Does anyone know if road tax for commercial vehicles for personal use is less than for normal 4*4's?

    TIA

you can only tax a vehicle for commercial purposes if it used only for commercial activities. You can tax a 4x4 privately too. Commercial will be cheaper but restricts your usage. You cannot tax it commercially if you intend to use if privately. It also cannot have rear seats (dependant on model, ie crewcab is ok) or rear windows and must have seatbelt points welded.

in theory you can tax it commercially for private use, but that is tax evasion and not looked at too kindly when you are caught!

Big clampdown at the moment on it, read the motor forum for a few people giving out about it.
