    I have just done a re-install , because my C Drive was full .

Now after 2 days - its full again - The operating system Windows XP is obviously using at least 9GB of space .

Now my HDD is a total of 75 GB - However the C drive is only 10GB and the D drive is 65GB .

How can I change this around .

Is it the cables attached to HDD - ?
Or can I do this during the re-install ?

If I compress the disk drive to save disk space - would this work ?

You obviously didn't format when You reinstalled. The d drive is probably Your old install (c drive)

You don't need to touch the cables on the disk. What you need to do is resize partitions, which Windows doesn't let you do easily.

Personally, what I normally do in this sort of situation is the following:
    • Download GParted and burn it to CD.
    • Run an error check on the partitions you want to resize, and defragment them.
    • Back up any important information stored on the partitions you want to change to an external drive
    • Boot into GParted, free up some space on the larger partition, then expand the smaller partition into the free space.

Bear in mind that the rule of thumb when modifying or resizing partitions is BACK UP ANY IMPORTANT DATA SINCE THERE'S ALWAYS A CHANCE IT'LL ALL GO PEAR-SHAPED.

Don't do this, it'll barely save any space and most likely just cause aggro later on.

In theory yes, though making the USB flash drive bootable may be more hassle than it should be. (In which case this article might be useful...)

thanks - just downloading now to CD - don't have anything to lose .

I will try this and see if it works , if not I can just re-install the OS again , but its really annoying to run out of dick space .

Its prob easier to just reinstall and make sure You delete all the partitions on the c drive and format as You install, just be careful and read all options as You install, you will get the option to delete whats on the disk and leave only unallocated space.
