Neighbour just popped in with photo copied doc's of this yoke that Extravision are promoting. Made in Spain.

Never heard of the make myself but as STB's go is this any good or even worth considering leaving aside HD which I'm not interested in. Prefer a well known brand name myself.

Televes *IS* a well known, well established brand. Maybe not in "High street" Ireland though. But I wouldn't buy this box anyway.

However it's a very basic box that doesn't have Freesat EPG / Auto tuning. Should be about €30 to €40 without a dish and LNB.

I'd recommend a Freesat certified box if it's for UK channels and something else if it's for Feeds, Motorised etc.

    Manual http://www.televes.com/inting/producto/catalogos/dth_receivers.pdf

It's about €50 to €80 online ex postage which seems expensive for what it is.

    €45 in Power City.

Doubtful if any better than the Philex B&Q did with €66 including all fittings, Dish and LNB, which works fine.

Televes are a well known maunfacturer of TV receiving equipment, aerials etc.

That xtra-vision unit is a standard SD FTA receiver and OK for €60 (without dish).

    TELEVES FREE TO AIR SATELLITE
    TV7118

    ONLINE Price : € 44.96
    Free nationwide delivery.

But unless you are very cash strapped get at least a Freesat branded box, and ideally a DVB-S2 HD Freesat box even if you have no HDTV.

This €81 system (dish , LNB, philex setbox and fittings) is what B&Q did have for €66. I don't think they have them right now

    SATELLITE TV & RADIO
    (powercity can't spell)

    Fixed post code Freesat

    GRUNDIG SD SATELLITE RECEIVER
    GUFSAT02SD
    ONLINE Price : € 62.96
    SAT4FREE SD SATELLITE RECEIVER
EASY TO USE SAT4FREE MENU SYSTEM
Grundig don't exist anymore. Not sure who makes it or price.

I'd not really limit to Xtravision.

See the Satellite suppliers sticky too http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=155714

The Televes box sold in Xtravision are made by Comag a well known german manfacturer, who also make the same boxes, although different case for Lidl. They are cheaply made and shouldnt be sold here in my opinion as they dont come fitted with a UK/Ireland plug as they come with a 2 pin European moulded plug instead.

It's illegal to supply retail with two pin plug. Seeing as there are screw on 3 pin adaptors, that make it just as if the flex had a 3 pin, there is no excuse.

The Comag's are AFAIK (could be wrong) Chinese made. Not made in Germany.

These 3 are same receiver the only differance is that Triax have a more robust remote control The menus are the same for the 3 receivers

Forgot about the Triax version...best of the lot...remote is a heavy one mind...but the buttons get stuck easily.

You can connect the Televes to your existing sky dish assuming your LNB has more than one output.Have a look where the LNB is on your sky dish and check if there is another connection right next to where the existing cable is connected to.

If not you have 2 options. One is to replace the existing LNB with a dual (2 outputs) or quad (4 outputs) version and then connecting your Televes to this. The other option is as you have already stated, to put up another dish.

That EPG will just show now and next, i.e. what is on now and what is on next. The Freesat EPG shows 7 days iirc.

    not all individually...

You have to do a network scan 1st. Then it adds them all.
If you lose a station you have to initiate a rescan and re-delete the junk.
Occasionally you have to add a transponder manually via parameters from www.lyngsat.com

    It's only got now next.

A Freesat or "sat4free" branded box:
    • No need to add transponders
    • No need to manually re-scan, automatically retunes.
    • Interactive red button services for BBC work
    • 1 week detail program guide
    • Digital Satellite text (not just Teletext).

The basic FTA generic boxes do none of this. BBC does no regular teletext for cheaper sat box.

I don't recommend these cheaper boxes unless you are broke.

Thanks a million for that advice *thumbs up* hard to get my head around all this when past my sell by date:D

I haven't used this Televes 7118 receiver, but its inclusion of a UHF modulator would be useful to a lot of people (send to other TVs around the house).

Can someone confirm the modulator is compatible with the sound (6MHz) of our TV system (i.e. PAL-I) ?

The specs here say nothing about the modulator of this receiver, just that it has one:
    http://www.televes.com/inting/producto/catalogos/dth_receivers.pdf

Also the specs say the receiver has no teletext. Is teletext passed on to the TV's own teletext decoder as normal? (try Channel 4 which has teletext or P888 subtitles on BBCs ITVs)

    Hi Guys.

Does anyone know how to unblock the password on this set top box. The guy who installed password protected the installation section and forgot the password. Is there anyway to unblock it.
