Discoid Eczema

My partner developed eczema behind one of his knees last year(aged 27). I looked it up online(discoid ezcema) and much to his dismay it said it is common for MIDDLE AGED men to develop in their lower limbs:):):):D!
There is no history of asthma or ezcema in his past or family history, but it did coincide with the news of his dads terminal illness. Its been 18 month now and it is persistantly weepy and on its best days is still angry red and scabby(hope none of you are eating)
It says there is no cure, but has anyone got any experience-may be a home remedy recipe or two??
