Question about pro riders and their bikes....

So, I was wondering about being a pro rider of say, TDF calibre...
Regarding their bikes, how many do they have? ie. are they given like, 3 road bikes and a TT bike at the start of the season or do they get just one..? Do they pay for any equipment..? Do they have garages full of top of the range bikes..?
I would imagine the top riders can request what they want... Contador could probably get a new S Works bike every week if he wanted,.. but what about the average pro...?

An interview with Robbie Mcewen said he goes through 4 or 5 racing bikes in a year.As well as seperate training bikes and TT bikes.Riders must not have full ownership of the bikes as such, as most teams sell off the old bikes at the end of the season. Parts such as chains and sprockets are replaced frequently also.

I imagine it wouldn't be a huge deal for the likes of Trek or Cervelo to give away a dozen extra units every year,so I'd say pro's get bikes whenever they need them.

This might be of interest to you. Teams have whats called a Service Course where they store most of the bikes and all the supplies.

This is the Team Sky one

Pro teams get more bikes than they can use. They then sell some of the spare bikes to raise cash to buy drugs.

    Apparently.
