If you're not jailbroken, then VoIP only works over WiFi, in which case 3 have no idea that you're making VoIP calls.

VoiP may be used over Wifi and 3G. In the latter case, your usage will be debited from your data bundle and there will be no charge until you use up your allowance.

You may use Truphone, Fring, Skype, Whistle Phone, Vonage, Vopium and so on. There is non problem on iPhone or iPad.

No, there is no need to jailbreak the device. VoiP is totally permissible and does not incur any charges within data bundle.

Is that something that's changed recently? It used to not be possible to make VoIP calls over 3G with O2, I thought it was a software restriction.

This was changed a long time time ago, like back in june, unless three have some specific rules.

O2, I don't know, but the thread post concerned 3.

One way to find out - Call the Skype Call Test Service!

EDIT seems to have been free for me. In fact, 'current spend' has actually just decreased by just over one euro. Which is exceedingly odd.

Sorry, yeah, but it used to be restricted by the iOS:

Looks like it's been allowed since 3.1.3, I'm way behind.

On the topic of 3, I imagine that the data used simply hasn't been deducted from your balance yet.

Ah! No, VoiP calling over 3G has been in place for some time now.

3 generally update in real time, but as always where the Internet is concerned, proceed with caution.

Seems like i spoke too soon, Unit has just been deducted now, I made few calls at 7am so after 10 hours.
All other units used are in almost real time anyway.
