Must complete the course for HC adjustment?

    As I get out on average twice a week I look forward to a full round of golf. I have on occasion been with players during a competition who decide to head in after the 15th, to my ire, during an 18 hole comp, usually when they're not going well or know that they don't have a score and declare a NR card. Some say that this is so they're handicap won't be adjusted or for their 0.1...but that's a matter for their own conscience (and the handicap committee).
    Is it the case as per Rule 6-8 that they are disqualified and their card is not counted or is it regardless of completion of the course their card is reviewed and handicap adjusted as a NR?

    6-8. Discontinuance of Play; Resumption of Play

    • a. When Permitted
    The player must not discontinue play unless:
    (i) the Committee has suspended play;
    (ii) he believes there is danger from lightning;
    (iii) he is seeking a decision from the Committee on a doubtful or disputed point (see Rules 2-5 and 34-3), or
    (iv) there is some other good reason such as sudden illness.

    Not completing the course results in disqualification from the competition. However for handicap purposes, there are different rules and they fall under CONGU. I'm sure i've seen them on their website but a quick glance and i can't. What i know is that if a cartegory 1 player tees off on the first hole, he will be liable to a .1 back irrespective of how many holes he plays....

    The different classes have different rulings and the completion of a certain number of holes will determine if they will get a .1 back or not...

    sorry for the vagueness.... I'll keep looking..

    once you sign into the computer you are entered into the competition and you get .1 unless you submit a card to show you were in the buffer or better than your h/cap.

    so if you play 5 or 15 holes, declare n/r or not submit the card at all it makes no difference you get .1 back!

    This is definatly the story for cat 1 but im pretty sure it applies to all...

    This isnt the case for all categories... there are other rules for the other categories, unless of course they've changed it recently...

    Nr is .1 for everyone, however i believe you need 15 holes to get cut

    Thanks for the clarification guys; does anyone know where the 15 hole rule can be found? Why 15 and not 13 or 16?

    Haven't heard of any of these 'limits' but will look into it.
    By the way, if you were able to be cut after completing only 13 holes you'd deserve to be slashed :)
