In a story from Variety, HBO is putting together a deal for a drama series from director Rod Lurie with Kevin Spacey starring as a charismatic cult leader.
The project is presently being called The Crux. HBO beat out FX and Showtime for the property and they've put it on the fast track.
Rod Lurie's producing partner, Marc Frydman, came up with the idea. They are currently penning the script. Lurie will direct the pilot.
"It really is a perfect marriage between an [COLOR=#8fcc00 !important][COLOR=#8fcc00 !important]actor[/COLOR] and a role," Lurie stated.
The Crux will take place in L.A. and focus on a man who leads a "multibillion dollar worldwide cult."
