Misleading title vs discription

Ok guys I bought what I thought was a replacement screen for a laptop. It arrived today but was only the lid. On relooking it seems I glanced and seen "Screen Lid + Webcam + Cable" with screen Screen on one line and the rest wrapped to the next line. However in the description it says "No dead pixels" and I emailed the seller asking if "this screen works" and they replied "it works 100%"

I have opened a dispute with paypal what do you think my chances are?Can you dispute based on description rather than title?

If you filed a significantly not as described dispute, then I'd say you have a good chance. The description in the auction is what you go on anyway, not just the title. If the seller made it ambiguous then he is at fault. Descriptions must be accurate.

You will be asked to return the lid, at your expense, and if you choose non-registered post, then you would be liable if it goes "missing".

That's exactly what I filed. Originally I bought it as it was in the same town and was listed for collection. The seller then shipped it according to paypal and as much as I hate to admit it their name got my on high alert. When the parcel arrived this morning I knew it felt light and therefore took numerous photos as I was opening it as "cover". I only paid yesterday so high hopes the money is still in the account. Still have to find a screen again :(

I think I read the same add but from the way the seller sells stuff dismantled to the last nut and bolt automatically assumed it was just the lid and no screen. From what I remember of the add (post link?) it sounded like just the lid with no screen so I didn't get as far as reading the description.

However from the correspondance + description I think you have a good case.

Its the sellers answer to your question that should seal it, provided eBay read it.

Should go in the sellers favour imo

Is this it by any chance? The description says:

DELL INSPIRON 1545 15.6" BLUE SCREEN LID +WEBCAM+CABLE+WIFI CABLE.ITEM IS GREAT COSMETIC CONDITION.NO BROKEN PIXELS

The bit about pixels is misleading if there's no screen. Having said that, €28 is way to cheap for a laptop screen.

I was just going to say. I'm always for the policy that "if its too good to be true...." You'd be looking at a minimum of €80 for a screen alone.

But as people have said, it does raise the point - why did the seller mention dead pixels? Maybe he was referring to the camera?

Dead pixels wouldn't really something you would associate with a camera, maybe the screen on the camera, seller was probably chancing their arm here

It looks like deliberate misleading by the seller in order to sell it quicker. Any response to the dispute yet?

That's the ad. Seller has come back offering to refund if I send back. Happy with that. They also have the screen too but it's the wrong one!
On the price it was €36 and I figured I was just getting a good deal :o

Thanks for the help guys and I'll be more weary in future. Now off screen hunting again..

no dead pixels sounds dodgy if he didnt ship an actual screen
