    Hi,

We are hoping to go to South America for approx 6 weeks on our honeymoon & are thinking of going between Chile & Argentina. Time frame will be late November to the end of December. We've never been to south America before so not really sure what to expect but have started reading into a few travel books. Has anybody experience of these places that they could share with us. We'd like to do a bit of trekking but we also want to spoil ourselves with a bit of luxury along the way.

    Many Thanks.

I travelled some of South America a couple of months back. I didn't spend long in Argentina. Just visited Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls and Salta. Buenos Aires is nice but it's very European. It's a well developed city so if you are looking for a culture shock, like I was, it may be best to go elsewhere. The Falls were lovely and Salta is small and not much to offer. If you are into nature, Patagonia is supposed to be class.

My favourite countries were Bolivia and Peru. Very different to back home, fantastic cultural difference, colourful and so forth. I went as a smelly backpacker avoiding home comforts so maybe a honeymoon vibe would be different.

I spent some time in Colombia but only got to Bogota and Cartagena. Most people who have seen more of the country have raved about it. I enjoyed what I did see.

I didn't go to Chile but I've heard it's European also.

Have a watch of The Motorcycle Diaries.

Thanks for that. We arent 100% set on the 2 countries listed but Id say we will end up going there all the same. Going to order the lonely planet & start sticking pins in where we want to go & then go from there.
