Im thinking of getting into using ebay more to sell stuff but I was reading through their fees etc and it seems very pricey. I also heard that pay pal charge fees?

Those of you who are more used of using the two could you just list what sort of fees im looking at say if I wanted to sell something for 200 euro?

hi, if selling something for 200euro , ebay would take 20euro of that as they charge a 10% fee on the final price. i think the maximum fee on the one auction that can be charged is 50 pounds or euro not sure.

paypal charges on the total price you get paid including p&p costs, i sold something once and total amount the buyer sent to my paypal account including for p&p costs was 37.50 euro and paypal kept 1.63 euro from that in fee .

so yeah pretty expensive ! hope i've helped:)

P&P costs are excluded from all fee calculation.

Not true - the P&P is counted when paypal take their fee. (3.5% i think)

OK, it's just eBay that exclude P&P from the FVF. Looks like Paypal doesn't differentiate.

Just reading through ebays fees. Is their also a listing fee for the item to just be listed even if you dont sell it?

    Yep

Unless the item is listed at under €1.48 (excluding P&P), there is a listing fee, it rises depending on the price you list the item at.

there are some weekends that eBay allow free listings - keep an eye out for these as well .

Here is an example where savings can be made : '' eBay quote : >

We’re pleased to announce that from the 1st August 2010 until 9th January 2011 (local GMT), sellers who list an item(s) (with any starting price) on eBay.ie, in the GPS Systems and MP3 Players sub-categories (MP3 Accessories sub-category excluded), and list with a product from the eBay catalogue, will not pay for Subtitle, Supersize image and Insertion fees.

Before people give out about eBay, as I do myself, they should remember for buy and selling many categories of items it is the only worthwhile game in town. Gumtree/Donedeal/BenDunne.com/eBid etc are a waste of time as they just don't attract a big enough usership of buyers or sellers.
