    Hi,

Can anyone help me understand (and maybe even fix) fuel14/fail14 fault which is displayed on the vcm of my 1990 Jag XJ6 4 litre? I've googled it and found results saying it could be any of a number of different things, sensors, ecu etc. Also does anyone know how to clear the fault from the VCM so I can see if the fault reappears?

Is it going to make anything worse by continuing to drive the car? It doesnt seem to be affecting its performance.

    Thanks

Problem is that although the coolant sensor is the most common thing to get mentioned there are also a lot of other possibilities and we can't go changing them all!

Annie to reset the VCM follow the following instructions:

    Ignition off
Disconnect battery NEG terminal for about as long as it takes to smoke a tab.

    Reconnect.

Let the engine go to stone cold, and then go for a drive for about half an hour.

This era Jag is very prone to displaying faults that aren't actually there.

They only fault which requires immediate attention is if the check engine light comes on and doesn't go off. This means there has been a fault code stored
