    Hi,
I need help badly, im totally adicted to online poker, im on the dole and live at home at the moment, for the past 5 months everyweek i have lost all my dole money without fail on online poker, it come to well over 5,000 Eur plus im in debt to another 1,800 Eur, i think cause im in debt and im trying to pay it off that i try and win the amount i owe every week, it never works i loose it all again, its now going to take me 9 weeks to pay this back saving my dole ever week and never going out all becaue im totally addicted to online poker, ive tried and tried in the past to give it up but ive only lasted 3 weeks at most, i feel so depresed right now.
I was always a gambler but i had it under control but then i got sucked into online poker, funny thing is i never gamble on anything else now as i think it's a waste of money and know i will never win long term, if i can only think this way about online poker i think i can be cured but it's so hard, im not the type to go to gamblers Anon or anything but i dunno what to do.
The reason im writing this is because ive had enough and hopefully i can come back in 9 weeks and say ive done it, ive paid off my debt and to hopefully stay off online poker for life, it going to have to be each day at a time cause the urge is so huge sometimes, ive taken the step of excluding myself from most accounts i have but i can always set up new ones, my laser card is the worse thing that i have got, so im Just going to cut it up now so i wont be able to deposit anymore into online accounts.
I know this was long and winding but i need support.

No one is the type to go to Gamblers Anon... until they do. Seriously, you should get down there ASAP. Also, have you actually cut up your Laser card yet? If not, do so now.

    All the best.

Do it. Just go ahead and do it! Cut them up, save for 9 weeks (and more) and maybe even get yourself banned from these websites. (Where there's money involved, you can be sure they'll track your IP address so that they'll never let you play).

    We support you.

There is help and support for you, there are Gambers Anon meetings all over the place you just have to find one near you and screw up the courage to go.

    Hi OP,
I had a short-term online poker addiction a while back.

Most of the sites you play with will have a responsible gambling policy.
They generally have an option to lower your maximum monthly deposit to something trivial like €10. That's what I did.

As mentioned before, cut up and destroy any Debit/Credit cards you have.
Also remove any saved card details from your account settings on the sites.
These are the means for playing online, you won't be able to play if you eliminate them.

You mentioned that you're unemployed, i'm guessing that's where you're getting all of the boredom. I generally got stuck into online poker because I was bored for large amounts of the day. Have you any other outlet for your spare time? Hobbies/Sports etc.

I can understand that its difficult to spend time socialising with friends when you don't have spare cash for going out. So I do empathise with your situation.

In summary, if I were you. I would just stick with cash for my everyday expenses for a while. Get rid of the cards if you can, and enforce the minimum limit possible on any online account.

    Best wishes

of course Thaedydal's suggestion of G.A. is spot on also

Stop all your accounts on online and tell them you have a problem with gambling they won't let you open another account with them. Do this today I promise you it will be a weight off your shoulders. Make sure you can not log into any online accounts. I was like you I now don't use the computer very much as I know I would be tempted so I go running or for a walk anything to distract me from thinking of gambling. For me it was something to pass the time and for the "thrill" of maybe winning money but I never did I ALWAYS lost! I am broke but at least now I have control over the situation and feel so much better. It helps that I cannot log onto any gambling sites as I have go them to ban me permanently from them!

    Good luck OP

Dont ask questions the OP will likely not want to answer.
