    Hill 16 is Dublin only

Why were they selling them in Pairc Ui Rinn so on Monday night. To brighten up the hill no doubt!

Well we didn't send any tickets back, so I presume we got half the tickets for the hill. I expect it to be half red and half blue on sunday:rolleyes:

    Ah who gives a crap.
I've been on the hill several times over the years and honestly think the craic is better when there are opposition fans in the mix.

Theres too many non Dubs whingeing about the Dubs getting all the hill tickets. Truth is the other counties rarely apply for hill tickets when they play the Dubs, and when they do, they get them.

I'll be in the Cusack with all the culchies!

I haven't been on the Hill since we played Tyrone in the quarter final in 08. Mainly because my youngfella now comes to the games. I'm a season ticket holder so am in lower cusack section 304 or 305. Have to say I enjoy the atmosphere sitting amongst the other supporters and the banter that goes with it. For the most part its good natured slagging.
Don't really miss the hill because alot of people on there don't even know the players names and alot just hurl abuse at their own players.
It would be good to see a mix of red and blue ther at the weekend!

Given that money is a little tighter this year given the economy etc etc, I'd imagine that more people will be going for the cheaper option of the hill, so there should be a good few cork supporters thrown into the mix there.

Enjoy the view while you can... we'll have a potentially poxy fence in front of us for Kildare v. Down match

The things I dislike about the GAA.

1.Dublin's fans sense of entitlement to Hill 16

2.Non Dub's indignancy at their not being allowed near the Hill, and their sense of entitlement.

So what is the story here, are many Cork supporters going to the hill?

dublin fans don't consider croke park a home venue yet the same fans consider hill 16 dublin only ala the kop or stretford end

    strange

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,528 ✭✭✭dcr22B

I think you'll find its the bandwagoners who feel that way, I love mixing with the opposition on the Hill on match days. It's great craic!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,659 ✭✭✭unknown13

I was on the hill for the Dublin / Wexford , Meath / Laois games. There were Meath fans behind me and they getting slagged by the Dublin fans. Thats Meath though and they were happily getting involved aswell. Cork fans don't know. Go in near other Cork fans and you should be fine.

I am guessing from this and other posts that people do not realise why? I thought it was common knowledge throughout the country rather then just Dublin

Its a bloody crowd chant. Dont take it so seriously for christ sake!

Arent Hill tickets available to all clubs in the country? In mine we have the choice of Stands/Nally/Hill and i presume its the same for all. Dubs dont feel entitled to the hill but other counties dont seem to request them. Heres an idea, give the Nally and some of the Hill to the opposition and the rest of The Hill to the Dubs. Could be a nice chant/song battle :D

The hill belongs to the fans of our capital

psssst....for cork people please note Dublin is the capital of ireland :P

I would imagine all neutrals will be supporting the Dubs against the Stalinist Republic of Cork, definitely the Croker Accountants will be. As a fair minded man, I will be supporting the better team, Come on the Dubs.

Couldnt agree more. Remember this, Caffrey should have been done for assault (and him a guard).

At least he got the result his sportsmanship deserved that day. I was up on the hill in 1998 (me, kildare fan), and there is always an aggressive undertone that you shouldnt be there.. GAA matches should be played in NEUTRAL grounds, and today's one should have been played in Semple Stadium.

What a day...I seem to recall the chant that day was "Hill 16 is Mayo only"

The reaction of the Dubs fans was hilarious - Lots of red faces and foaming mouths! :D

That day was easily one of the worst I spent in Croker. We had Mayo nearly beaten and we threw that game away very badly.
