    Hi

I am in a relationship now with a few months, we are both fairly young and in college. We have not had sex yet but we both want to soon, my girlfriend has recently started taking the pill. We are curious though as to how safe it is, the doctor said its not 100% as we know, but we would both much rather go without condoms so was just wondering if anyone has any experiences? Anybody get pregnant while on it? She takes the pill religiously at the same time every day too. I'm not looking for medical advice just opinions as neither of us are really in a position to have a baby right now. Thanks for any help

I was in a relationship with a lady for 18 months, and for 12 of those 18 months she was on the pill; a decision made by a mutual agreement in terms of dislike for the decrease in pleasure, hassle from using condoms and the risk from involved from not. We had sex at least thrice weekly, most times daily and she has never been pregnant.

Do note, as will be explained, there have been a number of reported side effects. In her circumstances, she gained 2/3 pounds and experienced transient bouts of minor mastalgia (tender breasts). On the up front, it is widely known to clear up acne...

I was on the pill (microlite if it helps) took it religiously every day at the same time, i now have a 13 month old baby, although luckily for us it worked out! :)

only reasons for it failing i have been given "if you have a fast digestive system it could have been broken down too fast" or "did you take a paracetamol?" and "it's not 100% effective"

i think the odds are low like 1 in 1000 or something but it can still happen, it happened to me.

To add to what Candlelover said, even a slightly dodgy tummy can render the Pill ineffective. I've heard of a lot of holiday babies had that way. Even if you don't have sex on the same day as a stomach upset, it can take a week for the dose to become effective again, even when taken religiously.

For peace of mind, IME, the Pill and a condom is the way to go to be as sure as you can be (although remember that nothing is ever 100% effective). There are thin ones which can help sensation or Durex do a lovely condom called "Pleasuremax" which makes things more enjoyable for the lady. I heartily recommend them! :D
