A friend of mine has came across some, mainly silver but some gold. One of the silver ones has alexander on one side and zeus's head on the other. Considering they are over 2000 years old do they belong in a museum and what are coins like this worth?

I am sure they are of some value and probably belong in a museum, probably of little value to your friend as you can not sell etc under Irish legislation AFAIK.

Im not sure what the story is with selling on objects of foreign origin? Perhaps someone might know? Unless they were found in Ireland, which would be pretty significant :D

As far as I know anything found in Ireland foreign or otherwise must be handed in to the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, so I suppose if you can prove they were found in another country then technically, you could sell them.
