    Heya,

Got digital tv now in my car, I am able to pick up the channels list but does not want to play any, saying the format is not supported.

I wonder is it because none is available yet or?
I doubt my tuner is able to get analog TV.

    Cheers

It is available in Dublin from three rock, I'd say your cars digital receiver only supports mpeg-2 which is the english standard for Digital Terrestrial TV.

Sounds like an mpeg2 only TV. There are tons of these products for sale in LIDL/ALDI and in UK based retailers intended for UK use, they will not work with the Irish specs. If you bought it solely or mainly to watch RTE Digital it's not fit for purpose ......bring it back and get your money back.

Yes mine is DVB-T MPEG 2, too bad :o
Anyway I don't really care, not like if I had nothing else to do in my car...

How can I know what country in europe is using what standard?
Is there a map somewhere? I tried Google but could not find anything.

    Thanks

Are you planning on going for a spin ? :)

I presume you are selling it. DVB-T and MPEG2.

Technically in Ireland one is supposed to have a seperate TV licence if they have TV equipment in their car.

In fact a particularly pedantic interpretation of the law would maintain that this applies even if the gear was just being transported.

ADDS: Actually Watty now that you mention it I think youre right :o

I think they changed it that a Portable TV running off batteries rather than mains is "covered" if you have a TV licence at home.

The mains clause is to make you have a TV licence for a Holiday home.

Sorry off topic:o But do the licence inspectors visit caravan/mobile home holiday parks?
