I got an email a few days:-

    From: fool@hotmail. com
    Subject: Hii
    Date: Sun, 15 Aug 2010 06:46:28 +0000

hiiiii... ehehe huhu :D funny thing is ... ;p
i found a way to see what people are saying about me on msn chats ;)

Anyhow, here you go must take a look... =))

The 'here you go' part was a link to.. something, I .. of course, didnt click it because I know its a virus of some sort. Im hoping someone can tell me what the point in these things is? My gf got the same email and clicked the link, the next morning I had the exact same email from her.

I really was at a loss as to where to post this thread, mods if its not appropreiate(sp?) for her please move it.

    There's a thousand reasons..

One being: They have control of your machine to use in a DDOS attack. Basically using your machine to connect to say... Grafton Barbers.com. They then use another 10,000 machines to spam connect at the same time, thus causing the site to crash.

Two being: Keylogging your PC so they can see your bank details and take your moneys!

Avoid clicking on a link you consider suspicious of or that you don't know a thing about, best policy really!

I think the link asks for your msn id and pwd, if people are stupid enough to click on the link then they are prob stupid enough to put their pwds in a random site. Then the system will see all your contacts email address and have a nice bunch of email to add to their spam list they can sell for lots of monies.

I've seen variations on it which say this site can show you who has blocked you in msn.
