    Hi guys!

Just a quick message for any incoming mature students to DCU this year who will be studying any kind of maths module (eg in Accounting, Business, Engineering, Science etc): DCU School of Mathematical Sciences is running a FREE, week-long intensive maths course for mature students called Head Start Maths from 6th - 10th September (10:00 - 3:30 each day).

The programme is designed to help you make a successful transition to third-level maths by improving the basic skills you will need for your course BEFORE you start lectures. To register for the course, or for more information, contact mlc@dcu.ie

Is this just limited to mature students?

    If so why?

There's plenty of free help during the year for anyone doing maths. I'd assume it's a revision of the basics covered in the LC.

Yes, Bluetonic, this course is limited to mature students - it is designed specifically for those who haven't done any maths in quite some time, and is not based on the Leaving Cert but on revision of basic concepts - but if you feel that you would benefit from it, send me an email at mlc@dcu.ie explaining your background and I will let you know if I think it would be useful to you.

As artanevilla pointed out, there is a Maths Learning Centre in DCU which provides free help with maths right throughout the year to any student who needs it, so you can avail of that from the first couple of weeks of semester. There will be a talk about the Maths Learning Centre during orientation week, where you can find out more information about the services available.
