    hi all,
i'm due to travel to switzerland next wednesday with aer lingus but i may not be able to go due to a possible medical condition. i know i'll be able to get the taxes and charges back if i don't fly but will i be able to get the fare back due to this? i've no travel insurance when i booked the flight cos i thought it'd be a waste of money.
would aer lingus be nice enough to refund my fare cos of a medical condition?

    thanks :)

no they wont refund the fare, as for the taxe/charges don't expect the whole amount!!

learn from your mistake and take out a decent annual travel insurance!

Don't think they will refund fare but I had booked a flight with taxes of 86 euro and once they deduct 20 euro for each leg of the flight, they refunded me 46 euro. Better than nothing and it went straight back into my account in about 3 weeks.

i'm a student so i can't really afford decent insurance. the insurance you'd book with aer lingus probably wouldn't cover me for this so what would be the point in spending even more money?
the condition only popped up in the last few days and i've the holiday booked for about 2 months now. hardly something i can learn from

yeah looked it up on the aer lingus website, €20 per one-way flight. paid €80 in taxes so will be getting back €40. god it's a good bit to take off.

definitely won't be going away though:( got it confirmed today.

    thanks for your replies :)
