Just log in on the other xbox with your current profile, surely?

Doesn't matter if you have gold or silver. You can transfer the content licenses no problem. Only catch is it can only be done once a year.

Your subscription to live is tied to your Gamertag. Gamertags can be used on any console using the 'Recover your profile' option.

If the new xbox is permanent, and you're getting rid of the old one, then you can transfer your licenses (to play arcade games offline with no internet and while not logged in as the user who bought the content) to the new console using the License Migration Tool (google it, it's on xbox.com). This tool can only be used once a year.

If you're going to your friend's house for a while then just bring the hard drive with you, plug it in and sign into Xbox Live to play the full game. If you don't sign in as yourself or don't have internet then those full games will be demo games.
