Jaguar is launching an armoured version of its stunning new XJ luxury sports saloon at the 2010 Moscow International Motor Show.

The new XJ Sentinel offers the ultimate in discreet protection, being virtually indistinguishable from the standard XJ model, yet featuring a state-of-the-art armouring package which provides occupants with up to B7 levels of ballistic protection.

Benefiting from Jaguar Land Rover’s extensive experience in the armoured vehicle market, the XJ Sentinel is supplied with a full three-year 50,000 mile factory warranty, along with comprehensive after-sales support from specialised technicians.

I'm guessing B7 won't be 'virtually indistinguishable' on any front.

B7 Plating is transparent but difficult to maintain OEM looks according to this:
For the highest level of ballistic protection, IAG offers B7 level vehicles armored to withstand multipleshots of 7.62x51mm armor piercing rounds. It is important to note that protection from multiple impacts (3) is mandatory for the EN B7 level, but the National Institution of Justice (NIJ) standard level IV only requires single shot protection.

Due to the complexities associated with the thick B7 level armoring, there are many manufacturers that offer vehicles with only single shot protection, meaning that it is crucial for buyers to find out the specific protection level of an armored vehicle before making the purchase. It is also worth mentioning that even though B7 vehicles provide the highest level of ballistic protection, there are a few drawbacks such as reduced blast protection and off-road performance. It is also difficult to maintain the OEM appearance due to the thick transparent armoring used in the vehicle.

I dont know the shape of a LC enough to really spot any major difference. Cool though.

The shape looks unaltered, but the glass is obviously heavily armoured.

I've driven the old shape armoured XJ. Not sure what armoured spec it was but it had glass about 3 inches thick - like driving around in a fish bowl.

Lets just say, if I did happen to be rich and famous I'd rather take my chances with a regular XJ :p
