Pro tools hd pci cards.

    This is probally going to sound really stupid but I haven't ever actually seen how these work and this is my understanding...mixer goes to hd i/o i/o goes to pci card in computer but how does it wire into the computer?

    Sorry if its a stupid question but its wrecking my head trying to figure out.

    As you say -

    The analogue in/out box (Avid's own, Apogee, Prism, Lavry etc) connects to the
    PCI card which is located in the computer using a 'DigiLink' lead.

    Hd 1 has just a 'Core' PCI card, Hd2 has a Core and an Accel card. Hd3 has a Core and 2 Accel cards in the computer.

    So the cards are additional dedicated DSP that the TDM plugins etc run on.
